Member for Baulkham Hills David Elliott today the community to nominate an active member of the youth community for the 2014 Tom Harvey Award for Citizenship.
Mr Elliott said the Tom Harvey Award recognises outstanding leadership qualities and promotes a vibrant and active community.
“This Award recognises the outstanding contribution of a young Australian who has assisted in the development of other young people and their families by providing better opportunities either through literacy, education or employment programmes,” Mr Elliott said.
“In the modern age where technology can often disconnect our youth from the community, this Award recognises the efforts of those who seek to re-engage with their local community.”
Nominees should be aged 15-30 and demonstrate their achievements through practical outcomes.
The Award is presented at the annual Commonwealth Day lunch, to be held at NSW Parliament on Monday, 10 March 2014.
Nominations close on Friday, 6 December 2013.
