Member for Baulkham Hills David Elliott and Hills Shire Mayor Dr Michelle Byrne have welcomed the NSW Government’s funding for continued planning of an upgrade of Memorial Avenue in Kellyville.
Mr Elliott said the Balmoral Road estate release had transformed Memorial Avenue from a quiet street to a major thoroughfare and had to be upgraded accordingly.
“One of the major issues my constituents enquire about is the condition of Memorial Avenue,” Mr Elliott said.
“While Memorial Avenue was reliable in the past, new housing developments have seen the road exceed what would be considered an acceptable use.
“With the expansion of Kellyville, now is the time to ensure Memorial Avenue can cater for the coming increases in usage and demand.
Mayor Byrne said that the growing number of dwellings being constructed in the Hills meant infrastructure funding was vital to prevent backlogs which had happened previously.
“For too long housing and commercial structures have been put into our community without any thought of infrastructure upgrades,” Mayor Byrne said.
“I am delighted that the Baird Government is committed to improving local roads and I am looking forward to seeing the benefits of a Memorial Avenue upgrade for residents and motorists in the Sydney Hills.”
