Baulkham Hills State Liberal MP David Elliott today announced the four students who have been selected from Muirfield High School to represent NSW at the Centenary of ANZAC Dawn Service at Gallipoli in 2015.
Muirfield High School was one of 25 schools drawn in a ballot in September conducted a
local selection process to choose four students and one teacher for the trip.
“I am proud that the NSW Government is investing $1 million to enable 100 high school
students from across NSW, to travel a seven-day tour of Turkey, culminating with the Dawn Service, marking 100 years since our first diggers landed on the shores of Gallipoli in 1915,” Mr Elliott said.
The students selected from Muirfield are:
- Ben Wilson
- Amelia Napier
- Cary Vanden Dool
- Chloe Von Brandis Martini
“What I am most proud of is the calibre of students who have been chosen to represent
our community next year”, Mr Elliott said.
“These students will be given the opportunity of a lifetime. The Tour will depart in mid-April 2015 and the students will visit battlefields which would become the birthplace of the ANZAC legend.”
Mr Elliott said the students would join 6,000 other Australian and New Zealanders at the Dawn Service commemorating the Gallipoli landings and will also attend the Australian Service at Lone Pine later on 25 April 2015.
