State Liberal MPs David Elliott and Ray Williams have called on Hills residents to continue giving generously to the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal as winter arrives.
Mr Elliott said the work the Salvation Army does in helping those enduring tough times is invaluable.
“The Salvos have been a mainstay of our community and are always able to lend a helping hand to those in need,” Mr Elliott said.
“I have seen up close the ravages of domestic violence and unemployment, and the services and assistance offered by the Salvos is of vital importance in keeping our social fabric together.”
Mr Williams said the Red Shield Appeal was a huge success but that more donations are always needed.
“The thanks we give the Salvos is never enough, and the donations they receive are never enough either,” Mr Williams said.
“There is no reason for the Red Shield Appeal to be limited to one weekend and I encourage all Hills residents to join with us in offering support to the Salvos throughout the year.”
Further donations can be made by visiting www.salvos.org.au or in person at Aqua Bella Cafe, Gloria Jeans, XI Eleven, Thai Waterfront- Bella Vista and Rave Cafe.
