Baulkham Hills State Liberal MP David Elliott has welcomed the decision if the Independent Pricing And Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) which will see water costs reduced for Sydney Water customers over the next four years.
Mr Elliott said the lower costs would be welcomed by families struggling with cost of living pressures.
“IPART’s ruling will see the average Sydney family save $100 on their annual water bill,” Mr Elliott said.
“Sydney Water has increased its efficiencies since 2012, which has allowed it to save $450 million in that period, and it is only fair that these savings are passed on to consumers.
“Consumers who are on a pension, or on a similar reduced payment plan with Sydney Water, will see a pro-rata decrease in their charges over the next four years.”
Customers who are late paying their bills will be charged with late fees. A late fee of $4.16 will apply in 2016–17, which will increase to $4.40 by the end of 2020.
