Hills District volunteer firefighters were honoured last night for their ongoing commitment to the local community.
Rural Fire Service Commissioner Fitzsimmons presented Long Service Medals and National Medals to 60 volunteers during a ceremony at The Hills Shire Council.
“In total, these medal recipients have accumulated an impressive 1,603 years of service between them,” Emergency Services Minister and Baulkham Hills State Liberal MP David Elliott said.
“Kenthurst Brigade Deputy Captain Lionel Smith is today being honoured for 70 years of dedicated service to his brigade and the local community.”
Minister Elliott thanked the 60 Long Service Medal and National Medal recipients for their commitment and dedication to providing The Hills District with a world class firefighting service.
“I would like to take this time to praise all our volunteers for their ongoing efforts each and every day, particularly when dealing with fires and emergencies in The Hills District.”
“The hard work and professionalism of our volunteers does not go unnoticed and this is a great opportunity for the broader community to express their gratitude and say thank you.” said Commissioner Fitzsimmons.
“Our volunteers dedicate themselves to providing a vital service to the community and they could not do so without the support of their families, so we thank them also.”
