Time To Apply For $15m Public Reserve Funding

Baulkham Hills State Liberal MP David Elliott is encouraging managers of Crown reserves to apply for funding under the NSW Government’s $15 million Public Reserves Management Fund Program.

The funding is available for any activity that supports the maintenance and improvement of Crown reserves.

“Crown reserves include local parks, community halls, regional showgrounds and holiday parks,” Mr Elliott said.

“Funding is available to support a wide range of activities which maintain, protect and improve our Crown reserves for the benefit of communities well into the future.

“This can include repairs and maintenance, pest and weed control, new recreational infrastructure and environmental initiatives.”

Minister for Lands and Forestry, Paul Toole, said the Government funded 460 improvement projects across the state through this program in the last round.

“$3.3 million went towards improvements for 58 showgrounds, $4 million was allocated to support improvements to 133 local parks and reserves, and almost $2 million went towards programs to tackle feral pests and weeds.

“The NSW Government is committed to supporting the growth of regional economies and helping communities to protect important public assets.”

Demand for funding is highly competitive – last year more than 800 applications were received.

Applications for the 2017/18 Public Reserves Management Fund Program are open from Monday 20 February and close Friday 24 March 2017.
