Baulkham Hills State Liberal MP David Elliott today called on Education Minister Rob Stokes to provide more funding for schools in the Baulkham Hills electorate.
Mr Elliott said the population growth in Baulkham Hills required more funding to be put towards educational facilities in the Hills.
“Baulkham Hills has one of the highest proportion of school age children per capita in New South Wales,” Mr Elliott said.
“With the growing development of Baulkham Hills, this is only going to increase and it is important we get ahead of the game in ensuring our children have access to the highest standard of educational facilities possible.
“For too long we had to suffer through a dark 16 year period when estate after estate was forced on us without any infrastructure upgrades and we cannot allow this to happen again, which is why I am calling on the Education Minister to ensure Baulkham Hills gets a fair share of education funding in this budget.”
Mr Elliott said he was confident that, with planning now complete, construction should commence this year in the new Bella Vista Public School to be located on Fairway Drive.
“Bella Vista Public School will provide cutting edge education technology and a new, collaborative approach to providing community sporting facilities thanks to positive discussions between the Department of Education and The Hills Shire Council,” Mr Elliott said.
“While Bella Vista will be an exceptional school, I am determined to ensure our other fine schools in Baulkham Hills also receive their fair share.”
