Member for Baulkham Hills, David Elliott, today announced ‘Join your local Hills sport and recreation club’ which helps people with low incomes to participate in sport has been given a boost with $4,000 in NSW Government funding under the 2011-12 Sport and Recreation Participation Program.
“I am delighted this worthy project has earned NSW Government support,” Mr Elliott said.
“The NSW Government is committed to helping more people to participate in sport and lead a healthy lifestyle.
“People with low incomes can face difficulties when it comes to participation in sport and recreation, particularly with costs of living being pushed up by the Federal Government.
“This funding will assist in providing direct support to projects that look to break down those financial barriers.
“Projects that help people get involved in sport have the potential to make a real, meaningful difference in people’s lives.
Mr Elliott said he is committed to ensuring everyone in our society has an equal opportunity to reap the benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle.
“Participation in sport and recreation can help people to develop self esteem, improve their health and wellbeing, and bring down social barriers,” Mr Elliott said.
