Member for Baulkham Hills, David Elliott, and Member for Castle Hill, Dominic Perrottet, today welcomed updates on the North West Rail Link.
“Both Dominic and I have been briefed by the Minister for Transport on the changes to the North West Rail Link announced yesterday,’’ Mr Elliott said.
“Despite Labor’s scaremongering and wild accusations, the North West Rail Link will deliver world class transport services and infrastructure which have been long overdue in the Hills District.”
Mr Elliott said the single deck rapid transit is in keeping with best practice around the world.
“The decision to go with a single deck high frequency trains has benefitted other rail networks such as New York, London and Hong Kong,” Mr Elliott said.
“These new trains demonstrate that not only will Hills residents receive their rail line, but that the O’Farrell Government is embracing new technology in order to guarantee greater frequency of trains and shorter travelling times.”
Mr Perrottet said community consultation will be the most important thing for both he and Mr Elliott.
“Both David and I will be meeting as many constituents as possible to discuss the changes to the trains on the North West Rail Link,” Mr Perrottet said.
“While these changes are going to provide the best possible rail service, I understand there will be many questions and I am more than happy to meet with any constituents who have queries regarding the new technology.”
Mr Perrottet said the Government had also committed to a second harbour crossing that will allow for a direct service from the north west to the city.
“Until the harbour rail crossing is constructed commuters travelling to the CBD will transfer across the platform at Chatswood to trains that will come at least every three minutes,” he said.
