The Member for Castle Hill, Dominic Perrottet, and the Member for Baulkham Hills, David Elliott, have expressed their ongoing support of the efforts by the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) to deliver on the Government’s election commitment to upgrade Showground Road.
Mr Perrottet said that discussions between all stakeholders were ongoing and close to a resolution.
“I am confident the Government will agree to a financial resolution regarding the upgrade of Showground Road,” Mr Perrottet said.
“As part of the approval of the Development Application for Castle Towers, QIC will be providing funding for the Showground Road upgrade.
“As soon as the final contribution from each of the parties has been agreed, we will begin the upgrade.
“The Minister is well aware of the urgent need for the upgrade, having visited the Hills this week, and I am continuing to remind him of the need for the upgrade.” Mr Perrottet said.
Mr Elliott said the people of the Hills deserved to have the upgrade done properly.
“After 16 years of Labor stuff-up after Labor stuff-up, we don’t want Showground Road to turn into another Rozelle Metro with money thrown away on planning for no result,” Mr Elliott said.
“The Government will not treat Showground Road as a political football, despite poorly thought out stunts from opposition Councillors.”
