Member for Baulkham Hills, David Elliott, and Member for Castle Hill, Dominic Perrottet, today announced that applications are now open for the 2013 NSW Youth Advisory Council.
Mr Elliott said the advisory council plays an important role in allowing the Government to stay in touch with youth issues.
“Too often youth feel isolated and ignored in the political process, and this is the best way to ensure our future generations are able to participate in our political processes,” Mr Elliott said.
“The Hills is home to a large youth population and I know that our community will benefit enormously from the input of the council.”
Mr Perrottet said the council represents a genuine cross-section of the NSW youth community.
“Council members come from all over the state and are broadly representative of the diversity of young people living in New South Wales,” Mr Perrottet said.
“It is only by understanding the issues faced by young people of all backgrounds that the Government can properly deal with the challenges facing young people and I am encouraged at the way I have seen the current council working closely with the Government.”
Young people aged 12 to 25 with experience in youth and community organisations are encouraged to apply for membership.
The closing date for applications is Monday, 29 October 2012 at 5pm.
Appointments will be announced in early 2013.
