Jane Cooke from Baulkham Hills adds OAM to her name

An envelope with an official crest was the silver lining on a particularly hard day for Baulkham Hills mother-of-three Jane Cooke.

She was very shocked but thrilled to find out that she had been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) and has had to keep it secret until today.

She was nominated for her service to gymnastics also as an administrator and for her work in the community.

She has been gymsports co-ordinator with Castle Hill RSL Gymnastics Club since 2003 and introduced Rebound Therapy in partnership with Gymnastics NSW to Castle Hill RSL in 2010.

The pilot program caters for children with all levels of disability and she is currently trying to get the program established across Australia.

“Without the support of my family it would be hard to do the things I do,” she said of husband Steve and children Shaun, Gary and Kathryn.

Baulkham Hills state Liberal MP David Elliott who nominated her said she had given herself tirelessly for the young people in the community.
