Member for Baulkham Hills, David Elliott has slammed NSW Labor for voting against more transparent planning laws.
Mr Elliott said the old part 3A laws were designed to remove planning powers from local councils and put those powers in the hands of Labor MPs.
“The ghost of Ian McDonald and Eddie Obeid lives on thanks to Western Sydney Labor MPs like Nathan Rees and John Robertson,” Mr Elliott said.
“The O’Farrell Government has set out to return integrity to the state’s planning laws, but yesterday Mr Rees and Mr Robertson voiced their approval for backroom dealings by voting against a motion applauding the abolition of part 3A.”
Mr Elliott said that NSW planning laws were being made more transparent by the NSW Liberal Government.
“The Coalition Government is overhauling the State’s planning system after the stench left by Labor,” Mr Elliott said.
“This includes being open and transparent allowing communities to have their say in the future of their suburbs.”
