Member for Baulkham Hills David Elliott today urged local seniors to take the opportunity to become tech savvy.
Mr Elliott said the NSW Ageing Strategy aimed to help more seniors become acquainted with technology in a rapidly changing world.
“The Tech Savvy Seniors programme is a key initiative of the NSW Ageing Strategy and aims to help bridge the gap between seniors who use technology and those who are yet to embrace it,” Mr Elliott said.
“The programme provides low cost or free training through community colleges and libraries to senior citizens and will cover courses on computers, tablets and smartphones.
“These devices all support social connections, easier access to information and improved wellbeing.” Mr Elliott said
Mr Elliott said the NSW Government had partnered with Telstra to promote the new initiative.
“Telstra have been a generous partner with the NSW Government in opening up new opportunities for seniors to get connected,” Mr Elliott said.
