Member for Baulkham Hills David Elliott today announced increased funding for the NSW Weeds Action Programme.
Mr Elliott said the extra funding would help maintain ecological diversity among native flora.
“The Sydney Weeds Committee has been provided increased funding of $856,000,” Mr Elliott said.
“This will ensure our local parks and reserves, such as Third Settlement Reserve in Winston Hills and Bidjigal Reserve will be protected under the Invasive Species Plan.
“The Noxious Weeds Advisory Committee proposed this programme to ensure that weeds and noxious growths were targeted early in order to protect native species.” Mr Elliott said
Mr Elliott said the NSW Government was keen to engage the local community in ensuring local flora was protected.
“Local bushcare groups have long fought against the scourge of rubbish in our reserves and the NSW Government is keen to ensure that the efforts of these groups are not in vain.”
