NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell and Indian Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi last week announced Sydney will host the 2013 Regional Pravasi Bharatiya Divas – a conference which will attract about 1,000 delegates from the Asia Pacific.
The Member for Baulkham Hills and chair of the Indian Ministerial Consultative Committee, David Elliott, said the news was a boost for Sydney’s Indian community.
“NSW has become home to many Indian migrants seeking to make a contribution to their new community,” Mr Elliott said.
“Hosting the 2013 Regional Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will not only generate almost $3 million in economic activity in NSW, but it will create closer ties between the business communities of NSW and India.
“I am looking forward to November when we will see what I trust will be a successful conference.”
