Elliott Calls For Seniors Week Grant Applications

Member for Baulkham Hills, David Elliott has called on seniors and seniors groups within the Baulkham Hills electorate to nominate for NSW Seniors Week Grants.

“These grants are available to organisations who wish to celebrate the wonderful contribution our senior citizens have made and continue to make in our community” Mr Elliott said.

“Our senior citizens have led our community in some wonderful achievements, and have provided our younger generations with exceptional role models.”

Mr Elliott said the Hills District had much to thank the seniors community for, and it was time to return the favour.

“It is now our turn to thank them for their contribution to our community, and to celebrate their continuing involvement in our community’s activities.” Mr Elliott said.

Projects must be specifically targeted to the seniors market. A senior citizen is someone who is 60 years of age or older.

 Projects must, among other objectives:

  • Challenge some of society’s stereotypes around ageing and demonstrate that seniors can be healthy, active and social
  • Highlight the importance of good nutrition, social interaction and physical activity for the wellbeing and vitality of seniors
  • Promote, educate and celebrate mature workers within a workplace environment
  • Provides intergenerational activities that contribute to seniors relationships with people across all generations, particularly young people
  • Increase public awareness of our ageing population and encourage them to plan for the future, and
  • Provide creative ageing opportunities through visual arts/dance and theatre activities

Applications open on Monday, 29 July, and can be made online at www.nswseniorsweek.com.au
