As we count down the weeks until the end of a very busy year I just thought I would update you about a couple of very special charitable events coming up.
On the morning of Sunday 20 October I (along with our dog “Winston”) will be joining the Mayor of the Hills, Dr Michelle Byrnes for Paws in the Park at Balcombe Heights Estate to raise money for Hills Mental Health.
Later in the morning, Reach for the Rainbow’s annual Run for the Hills event will return! Please join me on Sunday October 20 in supporting this wonderful Charity Fun Run and Full-Day Family Festival. Organised by Hills Liberal Councillor Yvonne Keane, this year all donations will go to help Lifestart at Balcombe Heights continue it’s miraculous work with babies and preschoolers with a disability or delay in the Hills.
The Run for the Hills 8am fun-run will start and finish on Main Street, Castle Hill. The 8km course runs through the rolling landscaped hills of historic Heritage Park, and takes in some of the undulating streets in the Hills District. The course will satisfy competitive runners, yet still accommodate the most laid-back casual and fun-runners. You can even walk!
The free Family Festival event from 10am until 4pm on Main Street will include The Sydney Designer Markets, free Carnival Rides (courtesy of Blo Hair & Beauty) and free Kids Zoo & Pony Rides (care of NAB Baulkham Hills & Castle Hill), LIVE entertainment with Hot Australian Artists, including “What About Tonight” (courtesy of Castle Towers), and a free outdoor family movie screening on Main Street at 3pm (courtesy of Event Cinemas). The intersection of Old Northern Road and Castle Street will be transformed into a Pop-Up-Park to The Hills Shire Council, Bunnings and Coolaroo. There will be a three minute massages from SmoothFM Angels, Face painting, Giveaways, Samples and much more!
As you know, the Hills Shire is extraordinarily generous when it comes to supporting wonderful local causes. As I mentioned, Run for the Hills will support a children’s charitable organisation called Lifestart that provides vital early intervention services to babies and preschoolers in the Hills with disabilities such as Down Syndrome and Autism. So not only will Run for the Hills give families the chance to celebrate a fabulous free festival event, any donations they make will be helping to change little lives in the process.
Please support the event by donating, registering to run or by coming down to enjoy the day on Main Street.
