Sydney Water’s contractor, Veolia Water Network Services, will be doing maintenance work to remove silt from the wastewater pipes in Settlement Reserve, Old Toongabbie.
This work is part of a five year maintenance program to improve the wastewater system and protect public health and the environment.
Work is planned to start on Wednesday 23 October 2013 and will take about two months to complete. Work is expected to finish by late December 2013, weather permitting.
Work hours are 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday. No work will occur on weekends or public holidays.
The work involves setting up equipment around the maintenance holes, entering the holes and cleaning wastewater pipes in Settlement Reserve, near Liberty Way, Faulkner Street, Greygum Terrace and Blackwattle Circuit, Old Toongabbie.
The work is done using specialised equipment such as drain cleaners and water vacuum trucks. At the end of each shift, this equipment will be removed.
During the work local residents may notice increased vehicle movements, noise, odour and temporary disruption to the walking tracks around the location. Pedestrian management controls will be in place as required to ensure public safety.
Nearby residents and the local council have been notified about this work. This work will not disrupt wastewater or water services.
