Member for Baulkham Hills David Elliott today invited the community to have a say on plans to increase safety and reduce congestion at the intersection of James Ruse Drive and Pennant Hills Road at North Parramatta.
Mr Elliott said the plan forms part of Roads and Maritime’s ongoing commitment to ensure safe and efficient journeys for all road users.
“The intersection of James Ruse Drive and Pennant Hills Road is used by many pedestrians and buses seeking to access several local schools and surrounding businesses,” Mr Elliott said
“Roads and Maritime is proposing to install two traffic light-controlled pedestrian crossings at this busy intersection and upgrade existing kerbs to improve the turning path for large vehicles,” Mr Elliott said.
“To improve bus running times and reduce congestion, Roads and Maritime is also proposing to build bus lanes at the intersection, allowing buses to bypass traffic queues.”
Mr Elliott said existing clearway lanes on Pennant Hills Road, between James Ruse Drive and Castle Street would be used as bus lanes during clearway hours as part of the proposal. There would be no change to the current parking arrangements.
“Before we make a decision on these proposed changes we are seeking comments from the community,” Mr Elliott said.
“Roads and Maritime welcomes feedback by Friday 11 April to Project Manager Francois La Rue, c/o Roads and Maritime Services, PO Box 973, Parramatta NSW 2124 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
