Baulkham Hills State Liberal MP David Elliott has congratulated Councillor Scott Lloyd on his elevation to the position of Lord Mayor of Parramatta City Council.
Mr Elliott said he was looking forward to working with the new Mayor to bring about positive changes for Parramatta.
“As Sydney continues its enormous growth, it is important to ensure our second CBD is governed efficiently and effectively,” Mr Elliott said.
“WestConnex and the North West Rail Link have created enormous opportunities in Parramatta and I know Mayor Lloyd will provide excellent leadership in capitalising on these opportunities.
“Parramatta City will be well served over the coming 12 months by Councillor Lloyd and the new Lady Mayoress, Kirsty.”
Mr Elliott also paid tribute to the outgoing Lord Mayor, Councillor John Chedid, for his achievements as Lord Mayor.
“Councillor Chedid has overseen enormous transformation in Parramatta over the last 24 months,” Mr Elliott said.
“The proposed light rail, Centenary Square, the growth of the University of Western Sydney, the arrival of the University of New England, Parramatta Square and the increase in capacity at Parramatta Stadium has all occurred on Councillor Chedid’s watch.
“He deserves nothing but the highest praise and thanks for such an outstanding job in growing Parramatta.
“I also thank the outgoing Lady Mayoress, Monty, and Councillor Chedid’s family, for the sacrifices they have made in ensuring the best possible future for Parramatta.”
