Baulkham Hills State Liberal MP David Elliott welcomed the NSW Government’s new partnership with AGL Energy (AGL) that will allow NSW Seniors Card holders to access discounted energy plans.
NSW seniors are being encouraged to take advantage of potential savings that are now available on their electricity, gas and solar bills through this new partnership.
Mr Elliott said that the NSW Government is delivering on its election commitment to expand the Seniors Card program and ease cost of living pressures for more than 14,000 NSW Seniors Card holders in Baulkham Hills.
With AGL’s seniors offer, Seniors Card holders in NSW can receive a 20 per cent discount off electricity usage charges and 18 per cent discount off gas usage charges. In addition to the discount, seniors who switch their gas and electricity to AGL before 30 June will also get a $50 credit on each of their accounts.
Seniors looking to purchase a solar system have access to two special offers through the AGL program. Seniors who purchase a system outright will receive an initial $100 credit on their AGL electricity bill. Seniors Card holders who take up AGL’s Senior Solar Smart Plan will save at least $200 off the solar energy plan compared to regular customers over their entire contract (7 -12 years).
NSW Senior Card holders will also receive a 5 per cent discount off AGL tradespeople and appliances (heating, cooling and hot water).
While savings will vary depending on individual circumstances including your current level of discount, for Seniors Card holder Cecilia Hicks, the benefits of the AGL offer were clear. Initial calculations estimate that switching to AGL and taking up the special AGL Seniors Card offer will save Mrs Hicks more than $300 on her annual household electricity bill.
AGL General Manager, Marketing & Retail Sales, Mark Brownfield said AGL was delighted to be partnering with the Seniors Card program to provide NSW seniors with great energy offers and a range of other benefits.
“AGL’s energy offer gives NSW Seniors Card holders access to competitive discounts off their gas and electricity usage charges as well special offers on solar and a range of other benefits. We also have a dedicated senior’s line to answer any questions seniors might have about the program,” Mr Brownfield said.
