Baulkham Hills State Liberal MP David Elliott today attended an ANZAC memorial service at Baulkham Hills, among the first in the lead up to ANZAC Day on 25 April.
Mr Elliott said the service was an example of the community spirit which permeated the Hills District in the lead up to our nation’s most solemn day.
“Baulkham Hills High School is leading the way in our community, teaching our next generation about the importance of the ANZAC legacy,” Mr Elliott said.
“Baulkham Hills High School students Shehani De Silva and Petra Stojnic will also join Muirfield High School student Joshua Bednar on a tour of significant historic sites in Europe as part of the Premier’s ANZAC Youth Ambassador scholarship in a demonstration of how strong the ANZAC legend is within the Hills.”
Mr Elliott said Jasper Road Public School was also playing an important role in 2016 ANZAC commemorations, with year six student Kayla Wong among six local school students selected as Hills ANZAC Youth Ambassadors.
“Kayla’s community spirit embodies the ANZAC tradition and values which are such a major part of our community,” Mr Elliott said.
“Jasper Road Public School will also be holding their own ANZAC commemoration ceremony on 27 April, when students return to school, and I encourage all schools both inside and outside the Baulkham Hills electorate to follow their lead.”
