Member for Baulkham Hills, David Elliott, has congratulated Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, for reaching her 60th year on the throne.
“The Queen embodies all the best characteristics of our Commonwealth: devotion to country, devotion to the community and unity of all peoples under one banner,” Mr Elliott said.
“Her Majesty has served selflessly on the throne for longer than many Australians have been alive, and her popularity amongst all generations is indicative of the leadership she has demonstrated in our community.”
Mr Elliott said the Diamond Jubilee would be marked worldwide by all nations in the Commonwealth, but that the people of Baulkham Hills would have their chance to wish the Queen well on this occasion.
“I will have a congratulatory card available for signing in my office until Australia Day, and all residents are invited to sign the card.
“I will then send the card to Her Majesty at Buckingham Palace, in time for her to receive the card for the Diamond Jubilee, on 6 February.”
