Crown Returns to Parliamentary Crest

Member for Baulkham Hills David Elliott has welcomed the return of the Crown to the Parliamentary Crest.

“I am pleased to confirm that the Presiding Officers of the Parliament have issued a directive which confirms that the Crown has returned to the Parliament’s Crest.

Mr Elliott was thrilled to see the Crown return to the Official Crest following years of republicanism by stealth under the former Labor Government.

“At the last referendum the Australian people said they were happy with our current constitutional arrangements and that included the important role of The Crown in our Constitutional Monarchy.

“Under the Labor Government we saw a clandestine attempt to undermine the constitution, and the will of the people, by gradually removing the crown and Royal Portraits from the Parliament.

“I am proud to say that under an O’Farrell Government those practices have now been reversed and the Crown has been returned to its rightful place within the Parliament”

Mr Elliott said that next month he will be speaking in the Parliament to support legislation which will see the Oath of Allegiance to the Crown re instated on assuming public office, in accordance with Westminister tradition.

“It is appropriate to see these Parliamentary traditions return in this, the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty’s Ascension to the Throne.” Mr Elliott said.
