Multicultural community organisations in Baulkham Hills are set to benefit from a $500,000 COVID-19 Community Support Grant to provide immediate assistance for basic necessities like food, transport and language support for vulnerable people.
Acting Minister for Multiculturalism Geoff Lee said the funding will provide critical support.
“The COVID-19 pandemic and measures to control its spread have presented significant challenges to our multicultural communities,” Mr Lee said.
“The NSW Government understands this and is determined to support communities to provide basic necessities to the people who need it the most.”
Baulkham Hills State Liberal MP David Elliott said he was delighted that The Hills Community Aid and Information Service was receiving $5,000 to help them prioritise immediate community care support.
“We have all heard encouraging stories over the past few months showcasing communities helping our most vulnerable. This selfless civic spirit is what makes NSW so great,” Mr Elliott said.
“Strong communities support each other through challenges. This funding will enable The Hills Community Aid and Information Service to continue to help the most vulnerable.”
