The Western Sydney Academy of Sport has launched its annual fundraising dinner “A Night With The Stars” in style at a networking function held in the Gold Class Lounge at Event Cinemas, Castle Hill on 27 November 2012.
The launch function highlighted three of the Academy’s local athletes; Carl Jackson, 15, from Castle Hill, a member of the Academy’s Triathlon Program; Nic Cadman, 16, from Baulkham Hills, a member of the Academy’s Lawn Bowls Program and Tasha Strachan, 16, from Glenhaven, a member of the Academy’s Netball Program.
“A Night With The Stars” is western Sydney’s very own celebrity sports dinner and is made possible with the support of many of the region’s most significant corporate entities, this year under the leadership of John Glover, CEO, Pendragon.
“It gives me great pleasure to be Chair of this year’s Western Sydney Academy of Sport event organising committee. The aim of the night is to raise as much money as possible to help positively and significantly influence the success of the talented young western Sydney athletes as they progress to the elite levels of representation in their chosen sport ” said John Glover.
“From a business point of view Sport teaches us how to work as a team and also how to quickly get over disappointment whilst trying to do and be our best each and every day” he added.
The Academy is very pleased to have the support of organisations such as Woolworths Limited, Pendragon, Crowe Horwath, Castle Hill RSL Club, Austbrokers, Taggart Nominees, Loxley on Bellbird Hill, Jani-King, Transparent Communications, Ricoh, Event Cinemas, Sony Music and The Hills Shire Times, all of whom contribute significantly to the success of this fabulous annual event.

To date, these annual events have raised over $90,000 for the Academy’s athletes and assists the Academy in providing more opportunities for the next generation of sports stars.
Academy CEO Martin Bullock said “the combined efforts of so many corporate supporters from across the region is a wonderful show of support for western Sydney’s talented young athletes. The Academy is a showcase for the enormous talent pool that lies within western Sydney and so many of our talented young sportspeople will benefit greatly from the funds raised from such an event.”
