Member for Baulkham Hills David Elliott today announced that five schools in the Baulkham Hills electorate will share in $10 million in additional maintenance funding this year.
Funding has been secured as a result of savings made by the Department which can now been redirected into schools.
“This additional maintenance funding is over and above the $318 million regular school maintenance budget provided in 2012/13,” Mr Elliott said.
“I am proud that we have made savings and as a result we can provide more resources directly to schools to improve the learning environment for students.
“Since we have been elected the school maintenance budget has increased by 22%. Over the past two years we have allocated $1.9 billion for maintenance and capital works in schools and TAFEs.
“We are committed to tackling Labor’s education infrastructure backlog and maintenance liability.”
The NSW Liberal and Nationals Government is committed to upgrading school facilities across the State and these additional funds will allow for further maintenance such as roof replacements and repairs, internal and external painting and carpet replacement to be undertaken.
